Who will find the climb hard
The honest answer is anyone for whom stairs are the problem. The castle says so itself, and the reasons are structural rather than fixable: original uneven floors, a twelfth-century spiral stair, many steps between levels. The upper car parks remove the outdoor climb entirely, which helps with the approach and not with the building. For visitors in that position the view from the village lane and the terrace of the valley below is still one of the best in the Périgord, and Castelnaud across the river is a different kind of day out.
